Adult Faith Formation

St. Mary’s believes that there is always the need to grow in the understanding and practice of our Christian faith.  The cornerstone of adult education at St. Mary’s is Faith Formation, a four- to six-week series on various subjects offered throughout the year on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m. Recent faith formation subjects and speakers have included:

·         Healing.

·         Jesus:  a sign of God's grace, atonement and forgiveness.

·         Our faith portrayed in Italian art and architecture.

·         The Rev. Herbert O'Driscoll on Celtic Christianity

·         A Lenten series with five bishops speaking on a variety of topical subjects

Other adult education classes include a Tuesday morning men’s Bible study and a Wednesday morning bible study led by Mother Carola, as well as several prayer and accountability groups.  A Confirmation Class is offered at least once a year for those who desire to make an adult commitment to Christ in the sacramental rite of Confirmation.  Special events such as quiet days, weekend workshops, retreats, etc. are offered throughout the year to encourage our taking time to practice and experience the Presence of God in our lives.
